Known for her versatility, Sacks’ oil and watercolor works share the expressive marks of a recognizable, painterly hand. The surface is active, even embellished, revealing the sheer pleasure of her brushstroke. While subjects vary, her paintings incorporate an appreciation of traditional realism with a push toward contemporary abstraction.
Born in New York City, Sacks graduated from The University of Pennsylvania. She worked as a designer for a decade while continuing to study with several renowned artists, most notably Burton Silverman, Barkley Hendricks and Rackstraw Downes before establishing her career as a fine artist. Her paintings were recently featured in Art as Politics at The Touchstone Gallery, Washington, DC and she is a juried member of The Hammond Museum, NY.
Sack’s award-winning art has been published by The National Federation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Art Resources Int’l. as well as licensed for tableware. Recently profiled in ArtsyShark.com, her work is included in private and corporate collections nationally. Today Sacks lives and teaches in Northern Westchester.
