ERIC Jiaju LEE

Eric Jiaju Lee graduated from the prestigious MFA program at Hunter College. He exhibits regularly both in the US and abroad, with works belonging to numerous private and corporate international collections (USA, UK, Canada, China, Germany, Philippines, Australia). The recipient of many awards and honors, Lee is frequently covered in the press such as: an extensive article in the Huffington Post, GQ Magazine, TimeOut NY, Connecticut Post and more. Lee has been a professor of fine arts for over 20 years at various colleges in the NY area, is an independent curator, a guest lecturer at museums and institutions, and is the Assistant Director of Sorokin Gallery located in Greenwich, CT where he also resides.

ARTIST STATEMENT

"My artwork employs abstract imagery to elucidate the human experience in relation to the inner and outer worlds. With a quixotic nod to science, science fiction and scientific theories, my forms suggest a micro-macro continuum inherent to nature. In my paintings I incorporate a process that is both intentional and improvisational by pouring and dripping paint onto raw canvas. I strive to create a sense of movement and growth by incorporating the Chinese philosophical principle of Yin-Yang, a passive and active duality that is always mutable, alternating and interchanging. Ultimately what I aspire to is to create compelling works of art that can be objects of contemplation and meditation."
